How do I shut them up? Watch

Out of my friendship group (all but one 18+) there's only two of us that drink, and as a result I'm often the one who ends up in awkward situations when under the influence. Over the past year I've changed quite a lot confidence wise, getting a steady boyfriend for a while and having the odd hookup with perhaps less than suitable men in the interim. Whilst I have no regrets it feels like all my friends talk to me about is what I've got up to at parties etc., and they all seem convinced I have a drink problem merely because I'll have a glass (or three) on a night out. We're going out tomorrow for an 18th party and so far I've been warned not to get 'out of control' and another friend told me not to be sick in her sleeping bag, despite the fact I've only thrown up from drink once in my whole life. I'm really getting fed up of what I consider unfounded judgements from my friends, but I'm not sure how to get them to stop going on about things that are none of their business. Help?!

just tell them that its your choice to drink so they shouldnt go on about it, and how you dont go on about how they dont drink so they should stop it or sock it!

ive had similar problems and normally make jokes of them and then if people are like "im serious joe dont throw up" im like of course im not, and then later do

Don't drink when you're around them?

Make friends with people who do drink, and just drink when you're with them?

ignore them and carry on. if you're genuinely not getting too stupid or "out of control" then they're probably just being uptight. if they'r really THAT bothered you could drink a bit less around those particular people to shut them up, but they should just get over it and stop making a drama

I'm in the same position kinda!! It annoys me so much! I feel like they just tell everyone all the crazy/silly things i did...regardless of how bad they were! I've never said anything to my friends because i don't quite know how to phrase it either

I know, and when you're not sure how to phrase things people choose to elaborate and phrase things for you so it seems worse than it is.

Remind them of stupid things they've done in the past and warn them ad nauseum about not repeating it. Once they complain, and complain they will, simply point out the similarity of what you've started doing to them and what they always do to you.

If it works then good, if not then they're not worth the effort. Go find another crowd to socialise with.

I normally sew people's lips together if I want them to shut up. :proud:

No, not really. I'm not condoning violence. To be honest, you should just drink less. You've said yourself you end up in awkward situations. By all means drink, but just make sure it's not enough to land you in such situations in the future.

Let's get things straight. The solution here is not to drink less. The solution, if anything, is to drink more. That'll give you the courage to tell them to piss off out of it.

Alternatively, spike their drinks with vodka and let them join in the fun!

Duct tape and cotton wool either for their mouthes or your ears.

Just ignore it - Not worth getting worked up about

In that case, keep comparing them to their mothers.

Repeat until they shut up or go away.

Either way, result.

Get really drunk then be sick in that sleeping bag, then they'll realise that everything they say, you do. So they won't say it anymore.
