Is there anyway I can change one of my a level subjects to FM?

I do a level physics,maths and biology. And i really want to do mechanical engineering in the future. I want to change biology to further maths but I only got a 6 in maths (due to extenuating circumstances) . my college wont let me do FM, so what are my options. I'm thinking that I could go to B6 which you only need a 6 to do FM, however it's january and i think it's too late. Is there anyway i could do it externally?
You could probably do a another year but FM is a big step up even from maths. If you’re not getting like Bs-As a maths I wouldn’t even consider it

Like obvs who am I to tell you it’s hard if you think you can do it you can do it but the only way would probably be another year at 6th form but at least in ur final year you’ll only have to focus on that
