extra reading

I was told that it was a good idea to read books about the course that u want to take, however on ur personal statement would extra reading benefit me or is it something that will impress the uni during the interview?
It depends what course you’re doing and where you’re applying to. In most cases, extra reading will really help, but it also depends on what you read and whether you have anything insightful to say about it.

It may also come up in your interview and it’s always good to have extra knowledge up your sleeve, as most people write about stuff they’ve read on their PS, so having something else (not just the same book) to talk about at interview helps to show them that you’re dedicated to your subject

I think it's kind of both?
it will definitely benifit you if you enjoy reading them.
What are you applying for? Many courses don't bother interviewing, But extra reading is definitely good for a PS
