Today is the anniversary of the Great Fire of Rome, so who do you think started it?

Take your pick. I personally see it as a minor arson incident, started by some minor unknown party, but what do you believe?

The conspirators would say Nero. If I am correct, he used the fire as an excuse to take land off the people to build a mansion. The grand amphitheatre was built upon his private pool in an effort to give the land back to the people.

No he didn't the fiddle wasn't invented

"The notion that Nero fiddled while Rome burned is nonsense because the fiddle wasn't invented until many centuries after he ruled Rome, from 54 to 68 A.D. He may have toyed with a lute, but certainly not a fiddle"

I actually knew that but I just wanted to see if anyone would pick up on that. Seriously my RS teacher has discussed that misconception with us but I was bored so thought I would place a lie into the midst of TSR. I don't think it really was Nero.

Though I had the scapegoating of Christians for every event in history,
