Should I do history at university

Heya

I am in year 12 doing economics history maths and politics. I haven’t decided on a degree course however I am looking into doing history at university.

Is it a well regarded degree?
What careers can you go into?
Does a level history prepare u for it?
History is very well regarded.

A-Level somewhat prepares you- a degree is a big step up but you also have more freedom as to what you want to study. Just be prepared for a lot more reading.

I've known a few people who have struggled getting jobs after attending Russell group uni's with a history degree. Depends where you do it honestly and what you make of it. Civil service is a pretty popular job after.
History is a joke subject. Honestly, there's a reason there are so many memes about History and English. Do a degree that actually leads to a job unless you really loves History.

As somebody who wants to do a history degree, I agree with this. Unless you want a job which centers around the subject (teacher / historian / archivist) I personally wouldn't do it, at least not as a sole degree. If you want to get work in the civil service or whatever, or law, just do those degrees.
