You mean they add all the sections? They have been instructed not to total up their scores by the BMAT people- I rang them. Also, adding the total would give essay most weight and that is widely seen as unwise.
if they don't take the essay into account then i'm actually screwed. do you know what percentile 4.4 for section 2 would be in? or a better question would be, what score do you need to come in the top 50% for section 2?

well, that is a bit of a pain. my ucas is actually in jeopardy now.

how can they just base their decision for interview on one test, don't they know that they could be excluding some of the best potential medics? (not implying me btw!)

They will realised that very gifted doctors arent going to necessarily get 19 or whatever.

I agree. The difference between a 5 and 5.3 is one mark. One mark on a 27 MCQ exam. It makes me sick that a candiate who gets 5 is considered better than one with 4.7.

If unis do take that stance it is appalling.

Why on earth would you talk about your work experience in your BMAT essay?

Its an essay for an exam not another personal statement.

My handwriting is atrocious! and I totally had a writers block on the day!

If you see my other essays here (done under the same conditions) You'd see that they are of a much higher caliber!

the problem is that they cant interview everyone and they have to pick an arbitary cut-off point, but that cant be helped. Hopefully those that aced the bmat but would make crap doctors are weeded out to leave the low bmat people who would make good doctors a chance.

lol i wrote like 3 short paragraphs cause i spent like 10 mins planning my answer. :sigh:

i was really dreading my section 3 mark because the other dude who did the bmat with me had his entire page filled and i was like "oh snap i must have flopped".

Its not even those with low bmat scores. Average scorers (like me) get this feeling that it just isn't good enough. I believe there is a reason why this is the case.

I was so nervous about the timing I barely spent 5 mins on planning.

Ended up with a page full of poorly constructed arguments!
