Please could someone explain question 9? Thanks
Which one (section 1 or 2?)
5. (Original post by jjkkll)
cos its the distance from the pivot.

So you always use the distance from the Pivot to the Piston ?

Its just im getting a bit confues as I didnt do Physics AS

So suppose the Piston was at 16cm, ie exactly where the Pivot is, would the answer (ie Force applied to the piston) be 60N x 16 = 960
6. Please could someone explain question 9? Thanks
it is 27 hrs first before i explain. (assumed it was section 1)

Its to do with levrs and moments.

The 60N force is 20 cm from the pivot so it has a moment of 60*20=1200
The moment on the piston must be the same ie 1200
But it is only 4 cm away from the pivot so a greater force is needed.
1200/4 which give you the answer 300

i didnt mean that in an agressive tone. i was just wondering whether they thought 695 was a good or bad average
