Welcome A-level AQA French Paper 1 and 2 Revision and Study Chat!

Image

The exam timetable is:

Thursday 11th June 2020: Paper 1 (7652/1)

Monday 15th June 2020: Paper 2 (7652/2)

How are you feeling about these exams? Do you feel prepared? What have you started doing to prepare for your exams? Comment down below! Image

How to prepare for the exams (general tips)

1. Create revision resources, whatever they may be it needs to be what works for you. If writing out notes over and over doesn't work for you, please don't waste your time!

2. Use the revision guide to make your notes, the copy from the exam board is your best bet - rather than using copies from other sources.

3. Create a revision timetable if this works for you.

4. Re-read your notes, repetition is the best method of drilling notes into your brain.

5. As it gets closer to the exams complete past papers. The more the better in the end!

mostly remembering how all of the tenses are formed (like pluperfect etc) and other grammar things like the subjunctive, but i’m just finding it all really difficult in general and it’s demotivating me so much

Why are you learning the present tense? I’d expect a year 7 to do that, surely there’s something better you can do like learning subjunctive expressions and irregular conjugations or something?

yea i didn’t explain that very well what i mean is it’s more like a goal, so that by the end of one week i know the present, (ill probably just go over it for about an hour) then i have until the second week to know the next tense etc. of course i will be doing other revision for French as well

How can you improve your listening skills?
Music, like genuinely just create a massive playlist of French music and sing along with the lyrics- you’ll hear it how it’s meant to be pronounced and get used to different French accents, you’ll say the words so you’ll get better at the accent and you’ll see it written down so you’ll get better at reading it. If you want a list of some good artists to start with Im happy to help 😊

There’s this really good podcast on Spotify called Intermediate French which covers topics that are included in the specification (and a few others). You can slow it down and speed it up and I find it really good for just getting used to listening to vocab that will be in the actual exams! You might find it helpful

I think that’s a really good idea! (And there’s no shame going over the present, some of the irregulars still **** me over haha)

I’m the same with getting demotivated but I find it easier if I revise half an hour at a time. With tenses like the perfect I do half an hour on it a few days a week and slowly it gets easier. I hope this helps!

I'm also finding it hard - a lot harder than GCSE that's for sure. My grade has gone down 1 every exam so far. :dontknow:
