Can you start year 12 at age 17?

Was wondering if you’re able to withhold a year and start sixth form at age 17 rather than 16.

Basically I’m struggling with A levels due to my attendance and I’ll be moving out of the area to a new school so wondered if I could just start fresh in September
It seems you are repeating yr 12 but at another school. Yes you can start yr 12 when you're 17 as long as you long as you're not 20 during your education.
I have a friend who decided she wanted to swap courses and go to a different college and so she started year 12 at the age of 17. So to answer your question yes you can.
yes, it's perfectly possible to do so; quite a few people do it for various reasons.

Do you know if you’re able to do it at sixth form or does it have to be at a college?

Would it effect your finishing time and university as I'll be going a year later than friends?

I means obviously it will affect your finishing time but so will lots of other things - gap years, placement years, year abroad, integrated masters, etc

Did I say that? No, it's just a thing. Yes, you will finish school a year later. In the grand scheme of life, that is not a big deal - especially since many other people will be in a similar position to you. Repeating year 12 is really not that deep
