Take ibuprofen to ease swelling and pain. Whiskey swished around gum helps, certain mouthwashes help too.

    Ambesol + cocodamol.

Ambesol is a gel for tooth pain, cocodamol is paracetemol + coedine. My dad had a killer toothache last month and he couldn't feel a thing after using those. They're both available from your pharmacist without perscription.

salt water is only really of use when you have a mouth ulcer, i think your best best is taking some form of pain killer, paracetamol should do the trick, but if you've got any prescription painkillers for you then i'd use those, they will be a bit stronger and might help a bit more.

avoid really hot and really cold foods and anything too hard or toffee like as it will probably aggravate the tooth.
