In the right hands academies are fine. Free of council spending limits they can borrow wisely. However, free of teaching legislation they can do what they like without checks and balances. Also, without central oversight centralised services like referal units, mental health and special needs have become disbanded and fragmented.

The grammar system helps only those rich enough or pushy enough to get their kids through the exam. Everyone else is a failure and go to mop up schools.

Public schools are fine but should not get the advantages of charitable status.
Interesting.

To think that the U.K would still be the U.K even after the monarchy is dissolved is ridiculous.
Maybe you find the idea that a family rules by divine right ridiculous. But they aren't really ruling the country, and they are a terrific symbol of Britain's pride, strength, and heritage.
Her Majesty The Queen has seen us through thick and thin. His Late Majesty King George VI and Her Late Majesty The Queen Mother refused to leave Buckingham Palace even when advised to during the Second World War. The Royal Family represents everything British stands to be proud of (don't take cheap shots at HRH Prince Andrew, what he did was unforgivable, I know).
Monarchy remains a uniting force for the country, a constant, an ideal, an unflinching institution to show the people of Britain that there is stability behind the fragile and corrupt governance they have to bear with.
God Save The Queen, forever.

The tourists will still come whatever absolute nonsense they wouldnt if this bunch of Royal Misfits were got rid of.

France a perfect example millions visit and couldnt give a toss they got rid of their Royals centuries ago
Absolutely ridiculous. The only reason France did away with them was because their monarchy wasn't half as iconic as ours is.
And of course, do keep in mind that we are the United KINGDOM. The Monarchy invites a lot of tourists, and you know that as much as I do. The amount the monarchy costs each individual is literally nothing when we take into the regard the emotional and cultural significance, in addition to the symbolic importance of it to the country.
