The Student Room Group

is it better to share a flat with MORE or LESS people?

most of the accomodations state that there are 6-7 people maximum per flat. while a few of the other ones state 3-4 maximum per flat. do you think more is better? you will have more of a chance of having a good flatmate i reckon

Fewer flatmates not necessarily better - you may or may not get on, but in a larger group, you may be more likely to find someone you get on with.

Which university is this? Flats of 10+ are quite common (thinking of Southampton and UEA off the top of my head), but few have much in shared rooms - Durham has a relatively high percentage, though, and Edinburgh states up front (or has done recently) that those going there as their insurance choice would be offered accommofation in shared rooms.
When I was at uni, I shared a house with three other people, we all got on very well.
So I would opt for less, based on personal experience.
