Autosomal linkage (OCR Biology A)Watch
One of the answers in the official mark scheme says:
- linked ALLELES (it was underlined) are inherited together (1 mark)
- two GENES are, tightly linked/ close together (1 mark)
- genes/alleles, are linked (1 mark).
The mark scheme allows saying genes OR alleles are linked,
but only allows saying the linked ALLELES are inherited together,
and when its tightly linked it's GENES and not alleles.
I really don't understand when to use 'genes' and when to use 'alleles'
and their differences IN the context of autosomal linkage.
Can anyone please explain? Thank you so much.
