You shouldn't have a strong smell down there. If you do, it could be a sign of something not quite right like an infection. Make sure you are keeping yourself clean (don't use fragranced soap - just warm water is enough) and are regularly changing your underwear (daily is fine, but some people change more). Cotton underwear is best. If the smell is strong or persistent, then see your GP to find out what's going on.

Just like the scent of an individual person, the scent or odour emanating from the vulva differs from day to day, and depends upon many factors. You’ll always be able to smell ‘something’, it is after all an area of the body with multiple secretions. But it shouldn’t ever be an obnoxious, pungent or overpowering aroma.

A fishy smell could be a sign of bacterial vaginosis - a very common condition. I would see a GP if you are at all concerned.
