Salters OCR Chemistry Coursework (A2)!!

Right, i'm going to be doing the coursework part of the A2 in september but my class has to tell our teacher what project we want to do by the end of next week.

I was wondering what people have done or are going to be doing, just to give me an idea of what i should pick. I don't want anything too complex as my teacher has warned us to do things relatively simple because the last couple of years people have done difficult things and its messed up their experimental results.

So any ideas of things that work well would be appreciated:smile:

I did the reaction of Iodine and Propanone under acid conditions. Got an A for it.

Fairly simple, other people did it and got similar results too.

I did the same and also got an A on the coursework. As long as you could do all the graphs and calculations (in the first module of A2 year) then you were set up for an A.
I did this too - I have a copy of it if u want to see it. No use to me and all the marking will be done now.

yh that would be great if you don't mind me having a look

i did/am doing kinetic-bromine and methanoic acid

did the practical a couple of weeks ago and now have to write it up by october, although draft is supposed to be in on results day
I dunno, I might not even have chemistry lessons next year to get help! So if people could help me with this coursework it would be much appreciated!

Do you still have this? It would be really useful to have a look at it if possible!

hey all, im doing the coursework atm, it takes so long :s-smilie: ! i'm doing the kinetics of the reaction between iodine and propanone, theres loads of investigations to choose from though,
may find this link helpful, it lists all the possibles investigation titles and some examples

I'm doing Vitamin C, involves scope for lots of titrations and a bit of colorimetry if you're good at that.
I'm enjoying it so far  Having said that, I only started it last week :p:

I'm doing the catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide, practical is rather straight forward which is good for me, and there's lots of lovely reaction rates to talk about
Im doing an iodine clock reaction, which is fairly straight forward, but there is a lot of written though.

I'm doing the acidity of wine. Has anyone got the coursework mark scheme? I'm starting my write up, and I need a checklist of what to put in it.

i'm stuck tooo!!

I've been given a bromide ion exemplar to look at, but i cant get my head around whats needed to be maxxed out for the iodine and propanone reaction.

Im planning to do 'how the temperature, pH, concentration (substrate + enzyme) and h#inhibitors affect enzyme activity...havent decided on the enzyme yet though...and we just started it all this week, but the rough plan has to be in on the first day after the haldt term :s-smilie:
so loads to think about
has anybody got an example coursework for that? (not gonna copy, i promise  )

I'm doing content of vitamin C in orange juice.

I'm in the process of doing the paracetamol content of different formulations.

Don't do it. It is ghastly. I hate it so much.

The last 3 weeks have been an absolute waste of time. Most of these weeks I have done 8 - 5.30 in the labs on some days.

I now have 2 weeks to work out what the feck is going wrong with it and re do it all. Joy :awesome:

I dont understand weather ocr sets the courseowrk (as i cant find it online) or if I can do my cursework based on absolutely any experiment relating to the course does any one know?
and/or does any one have any suggestions as to what i should do? thanks x
