Students waiting for GCSE results before getting confirmation of a uni place

Hey, i feel alone in this situation!

Is anyone else needin to wait for GCSE Results to get into university or your firm/insurance place?

There is hardly any infomration on TSR on how to go about this. Do you wait a whole week and maybe get rejected because of your GCSE results - resulting in a week behind on clearing and possible not getting accomendation and your desired course!

Someone please be in the same position as me

I'm waiting for my Gcse results too before finding out if I'm going to uni in September

Yup, you'll have to wait until GCSE results day. However, if your A Levels turn out to be amazing then it is possible that the uni will accept you anyway, regardless of your GCSE grade. This is unlikely, but can happen.

If your A Levels weren't as good as you'd hoped and you haven't met that part of your offer, then you don't have to be a week behind for Clearing. You can start making initial enquiries, although you won't be able to finalise things until you've actually been rejected by your firm. Just explain to the unis that you're contacting that you're waiting for a GCSE grade til you know for sure, but you think there's a good chance you'll be applying through Clearing.

So do some universities give you a conditional offer including doing a certain GCSE before you start as well?

Only if you didn't pass Maths & English at C grade the first time round.

Or if you didn't have the grades to start with like me. It's the first time that I've sat my Gcse's

Hi am re-taking my gcse maths this year again too just to understand a bit more which was my choice. You should still be able to apply again without any problems.

First of all, I apologize for quoting on this old thread, the reason being I have been accepted into Westminster Which requires GCSE C English (MUST), which I’m still waiting for, and I think I failed again!. However, I have been accepted into Westminster, on UCAS It says unconditional and I have even got the conformation letter from UCAS . In addition, as you have mentioned I have been predicted A*AA and achieved AAA when the entry requirements were BBB. So to sum it up, will I be rejected if I get D next week??

Thank you. I apologize once again.

If it says unconditional then your offer is unconditional. So they're not waiting for you to get anything. There are no conditions.

Maybe a mistake :frown: ? Hence, I didn't contact them about this; otherwise they might change it back to conditional ( Because It said "MUST" for GCSE ENG. :frown:

P.S. I have Key skills level 2 -English (which I have listed on UCAS)

You need to contact them. If it is a mistake they can change it, so it would be better to know asap so you can find something in Clearing. But your key skills is pretty much equivalent to a gcse C, so they may have accepted it instead.

I am in a similar situation to you Newyork Nagaram. I had an offer from Cardiff University to study Computer Science, which was to achieve ABB at a-level and GCSE grade C in English. I have achieved A*AD at A-level. I rang the university up and they said they would accept me as long as I got the C in English next Thursday. However, I went onto UCAS and the offer Cardiff has given me is "unconditional.” and states:

Congratulations! Your place at Cardiff University (C15) to study Computer Science (including a year in Industry) (G401) has been confirmed.

Does this mean I do not have to get a C or above in English? I will get the result next Thursday, and am feeling nervous given the amount of weight the result carries. I am just feeling confused and would like to hear all of your opinions on this

It feels comforting though to know some people are in a similar situation to what I am  Also, great grades Newyork Nagaram! Congratulations for those at least
