Spottyness and the Pill..?

I was wondering if anyone is on a contraceptive pill that is known for helping to clear up skin and actually works?

I dont have major acne or anything but my skin is never completely clear and I have a holiday and friends wedding coming up that I want to look nice for!
I've been on Yasmin before and that didn't help and I've heard of Dianette but thats really for bad acne and is quite strong so cant be given long term. So I was wondering if there are any others i could mention to my doctor? coz if i dont ask for it they are reluctant to give it out as some kinds can be expensive :s-smilie:
It's so annoying coz i have a really good skin routine (cleanse, tone moisturise twice a day) so have been told its a hormonal thing..grrr...anyone else in the same position?
Thanx!

My sister was on the pill for a while - It really, really messed up her hormones and she was in really bad way mentally whilse she was on it - major depression etc.

But while she was on it, her normally clear skin became majorly spotty..

Sorry the post wasn't that much help.. figured I'd just share

just use face cream... pills just mess up ur hormones and is unnatural. cream is too but its external and not internal. pills have side effects

i'm on yasmin now.. i was on microgynon which i think is what most doctors give you to start off with... i asked to change because i thought microgynon was making me put on weight and it wasn't helping my skin much either. now i'm on yasmin, my skin has cleared up a bit, but it's not perfect... i think it's just part of being a teenager. :s-smilie:

I was taking pills for acne for a couple of years, and my skin had almost completely cleared up when I started taking the pill, but after a couple of months on the pill its back to being very spotty again, even though I'm still taking the acne pills.

Ive been on dianette for over a year, never had any side effects but i still have spots, not bad ones but just redness and bumps in my T-zone. of course i dont know how bad it would be if i hadnt been taking it but it definatly reduces oil production.

Id say just stick with foundation for the wedding!

i've been on the pill for 4 years and my skin is just about starting to clear up, though that could be more down to the fact that i'm now 20.

I was on this antibiotic called erythromycin which was amazing! Only problem was my doctor didn't put me on it for long enough (3 months as opposed to 6) so it didn't get to completely sort the source or something so I can't go on it again.

But I'm on dianette and have been for a year and I haven't found it has cleared it completely but it's getting there, I think it's a combination of good routine and using it. If you forget to cleanse at night or something a few nights in a row it shows. It gets like really clear but with one left and then I'll do something silly and forget to cleanse one night and then not at all the next day (usually on a weekend) and it makes a difference. But I've found it really good!

But also, there's this cream Quinoderm that's good but it dries your skin out so be careful. That's good, and only like £3 a tube at the pharmacy. (:

I was put on the Clairette pill for mild acne a few years ago - it worked really well, much better than anything else I'd tried, and for me there were no side effects or anything. I think it's always worth a try. However, it did take quite a long time to clear my skin completely - if your holiday and the wedding are in the next month or so you may want to try something faster-acting.

If your skin isn't that bad there's absolutely no need for any medication, just buy a good cream. I'd recommend Proactiv's Repairing Lotion, don't think they sell it in the UK so you buy it from Ebay.

I was on dianette for max 6 months but the doc said you cant be on it for long and changed it to marvelon which i was on for 3 years with no problems

microgynon made me end up looking like I had major acne. Ewww, it was bad.

I wouldn't know much about pills, though while I took the injection my face and hair became less oily so I had less spots on my face, chest and back.
For creams, dermalogica is excellent.
