For context, I am an international applicant. I noticed that a few unis such as Birkbeck and City come under the University of London. Does this mean that my official degree/transcript will be from University of London and not mention the name of the college (I am not sure what the nomenclature is in the UK)? Are there any pros/cons to this?

Any information about how this works would be much appreciated!

There is no single pattern. Some member colleges of the University of London award their own degrees and some award University of London degrees. City awards its own. Birkbeck awards UofL degrees.

Most undergraduates probably barely notice the existence of the University of London.

You have to check each universities policy, some use London, some use their specific name, some allow graduates to choose.

There are no pro's and con's really, employers want to see your transcript, not the original certificate. You tell them whichever serves you best on your CV/verbally.
