Hi I am looking to apply for the RAF police officer role, as this would almost match my current salary after completing training.

My main concern is it really difficult to become a officer? And what are the extra requirements and tests that you have to complete?

Any help or info would be great! Thanks in advance

You can find details of all the various hurdles and tests by looking through these threads. Anything that pertains to OASC is relevant to you.

Take a look at the RAF careers site and the page for Police Officer. When you don't know what something means, search it on here. This has been a busy forum for a number of years, I can guarantee your questions will have been asked before.

All the requirements in terms of education, fitness etc are on the RAF Recruitment website. The only thing that doesn't have a lot of detail is medical requirements, but some of the basic exclusions can be found.

It's not difficult if you put the work in and prepare for the areas of selection over which you have control, including activities that show leadership potential, and approach training with the right attitude.

Being specifically an Officer within the RAF Police requires quite a lot more training. I believe Initial Officer Training (OIT) is currently 28 weeks long.

Then you’d have more training afterwards to specialise as a Police Officer.

The starting salary is £30k because the RAF expects a high level of leadership potential and competence from their Officers.

Hi

As long as you meet the entry and eligibility requirements listed on the role page on the RAF Recruitment website you can submit an application. It's how you do at Officer and Aircrew Selection that will determine entry.

Leadership and teamwork experience will be of benefit to you at OASC, making sure your fitness is up and you're prepared for everything you need to do. The thread on here about OASC will give you a very good insight into what people have doe to prepare and have been through.

Kind regards
Adam
