i cant seem to get my uni tutor to write me a reference for my PGCE application form....he is being a total b******. he says he doesnt have enough time, its too late.
what can i do? the application needs my tutor to write it!
is there someone else who can write my ref?

please help!!

Is this to get on the PGCE for 2005? I would advise you to quickly find someone else at your Uni who is willing to write you one, like a module leader, or your course leader. If it is for 2005 application you need to get this done urgently (closing date beginning of December - but most people have applied in Sept/Oct time). Where are you applying for?

Post Graduate Certificate of Education. It's the qualification you need to become a teacher.

Yeah, im hoping to get a place for 2005. Unfortunately, I couldnt apply earlier due to personal problems. Right now I am so stressed about this reference thingy....does anyone know how the online application for refeeres work?
Btw, im applying to London Met as my first choice.

When you apply online you just enter your referees details, name, address, email. You have to ask your referee if he/she is willing to do the reference online though. Once you have sent your application off, the GTTR will get in touch with your referee via email, and then they will just have to copy and paste the reference that they have written for you onto an online form. It is a lot quicker to do it online so I would do that. Hope you get it sorted! Good luck!
PS have you wrote your personal statement yet?

Cool, thanks for your help! I think I might try the online approach. You seem to know your stuff, have you applied as well? If so, where?
Ive kinda written my personal statement. Needs more work to it. But Im not too worried about that, Im sure I'll get it done in time. I dont suppose you know of any sample statements around? Any help would do.

Also, I've got some school experience coming up shortly, would I be able to get away with saying Ive already done some school experience in the past? Would I be caught for lying?

Yes I applied for Sunderland as my first choice (that's which uni i'm at now). There are hardly any places though, I'm not getting my hopes up for getting on it. But fingers crossed.
What degree have you done? What age are you wanting to teach?
I don't know about sample statements. All I wrote in mine was why I want to be a teacher (just a load of babble), then I wrote how my degree is relevant to teaching (mentioned a few modules where we have had to observe children etc).
Also added about work experience in this section as there isn't much room in the other section.
I'm not sure if they check into what you have done, you may get away with lying, but remember if you get offered an interview they will be asking about your experience, so you will have to be a good liar. (I'm really bad at lying and wouldn't get away with it).
You should mention all the experience you are going to do in the next year leading up to doing the course though, as it the experience you gain this year that will count the most.

wish you lots of luck
my degree is business related, its got nothing to do with teaching primary kids (age range 5-11 is what i'd like to get into).
just a quick question regarding the online ref thing - does it have to be done by 1st Dec? does GTTR contact my referee before or after the deadline? (even if i submit my part of the form before the deadline)

They prefer to have everything in by the deadline including your reference, although they still take applications after the deadline, it just narrows your chance of being accepted, as long as you post your part off though I wouldn't worry about it. Explain to your tutor that it has to be in by next Wednesday and i'm sure he/she will make it their priority for you. Good luck xx
Doing a BEd is better than a PGCE. PGCE is for people who didn't do a BEdand doing the PGCE to become a teacher (I think).
