Imagine a near-future United Kingdom of Wales and England. (Scotland has seceded and Northern Ireland has been absorbed into Eire).

The UK has an unemployment rate of 41% and annual governement spending is just shy of £400billion, having decreased from last year's government spending of £460billion.

What would this UK look like?

The unemployment rates of England and Wales are currently 3.9% and 4.3% respectively. UK government spending is currently north of £825 billion. How have you got to such reduced public spending while so may people are out of work?

That is not even remotely possible. Such high unemployment rates were not seen even in post-communist countries, in the years following the fall of communism, even though employment overgrowth in state-owned factories during late eighties was estimated at 4 times.

We would never have a 41% unemployment rate simply because we are an Island.

2567101, just 1 person more would break EU rules on unemployment on an island in the northern sector of Europe, in the southern part 100% unemployment is acceptable so long as the populace is paying a rather large loan back to the ECB, oops did I say something bad about those lovely EU types, my bad..

We will never be Venezuela because we a) have a Monarchy and b) the population have rejected the idiot that was Corbyn and his mad socialist policies and we won't be electing another one like him for the foreseeable !

Abolish welfare and you would have zero unemployment period! You have more migrants and Eastern Europeans working here than unemployed brits on welfare so simple solution is abolish welfare and get these lazy sods off their butt watching sky all day into these jobs and working rather than leaching off others

What are you going to employ cripples to do?
What are you going to employ 90 year olds with dementia to do?

Cripples can do desk jobs
All the benefit junkies that previous did nothing when their welfare is abolished can get a job looking after the demented 90 year olds who dont have ability to claim welfare in first place!

No thank you, we don’t want junkies looking after vulnerable old people. Terrible idea
