I am a UK resident, born here but uni wants my passport

One of my choices has asked me to upload the photograph page of my passport. I’m just curious as to why? Also is scanning it the best method to do this?

I got an email asking for my passport today. It made me panic so I just took a picture quickly of my passport, it was clear with no shadow so I'm hoping it'll do. But same here, I was born n raised here so I'm not entirely sure what it's for either

They likely just want to check some of your personal details, (full name, DOB or nationality). You can just take a clear picture with your phone unless they request an official copy.

Because they want to verify you are a UK citizen or whatever you are claiming.
Scan or photo as long as its clear it wont matter.

It doesnt matter as long as the image is clear. If you arent sure then the uni are the people you need to ask.

It’s so the uni can verify that you’re a UK citizen, etc :smile:

you could take a photograph of your passport and as long as it’s clear and the uni can read all of your information, you shouldn’t have a problem :smile:

What if you don’t have passport? What else would suffice?

Maybe a provisional/full driving licence? Possibly your birth certificate if you don’t have a photographic ID. Would be best to ask the uni directly and see what they would suggest

It depends why it's being asked for. E.g. if it was for confirmation of your full name or DOB, then a drivers licence or birth cert would probably suffice.

(NB. This thread is 4yrs old and it's best to avoid bumping stuff this this old as the info in them might be out of date.)
