M577 – Contempt of Parliament Motion 2020 - Proposed by Rt. Hon. Connor27 MP and Rt. Hon. Baron of Sealand MP (Leader of the Opposition)

That this House finds her majesty’s Ministers of the crown in contempt of Parliament for their failure to comply with the requests of the motion VM570, passed on 4th January 2020, to initiate action that would precipitate the sale of Cardiff Airport from state ownership.

Additionally, this house notes and expresses our disapproval at the fact that the government has ignored various questions from senior members of the Opposition on this issue, and government ministers have stated that they also intend to ignore VP100 on this same issue, which is also expected to pass division.”

Just legislate instead of being such big babies

It was written and submitted very shortly after it was sent to division.

Correct. This is just another one of Connor's stunts.

Mr Speaker,

This government has once again showed no willingness to abide by the will of the House, their actions fit the very definition of contempt of Parliament, and make no mistake; we live in a system of parliamentary sovereignty; not a dictatorship of the executive branch.

This motion passing will be the beginning of the end for this shambolic, hard left socialist government.

It’s the precursor to a MoNC.

In other words it's a waste of time from people too scared of losing in a MoNC they call

Which makes it incredibly presumptive and does not change the fact that it is far from guaranteed to pass, although I guess Connor will soon beg for some whipping on it

Nor does it change the fact that for all several members of your party seem to care about it none of you seem to be able to be bothered to write a bill to do it, which is after all the only way you can force it

Nay, given that I consider that Cardiff Airport is a devolved matter.

Which is irrelevant, for about the billionth time this term the MHoC can operate as any devolved body. Your argument is a lazy one for non-compliance that simply does not hold up

There's a technical argument and there's a moral argument there, and they're not necessarily the same.

The moral argument is that the Welsh Assembly has stated its view to the Welsh Government

The moral argument is that if you're English you don't get a say.

Same as IRL in that regards.

Given that no one else has ever done that ever why? Also you should wait 7ntil after the first review to stage that MoNC...

There's no 'dictatorship of the executive branch'. Feel free to write your own bill, simply the government will not be doing that for you.
