Chemistry is certainly a must for medicine.
has a handy reference of all UK medical schools entry criteria (which I always forget to save a link to >.> ), which hopefully he can link here for you :colondollar:

However to summarise, not all UK medical schools require A-level Chemistry, and some just require A-level Biology and a second science. However the majority of medicine courses do require chemistry and you will have a much narrower range of unis to choose between without taking it - so if you end up doing badly on the UCAT, or have weaker GCSEs, then this might even more significantly limit the range of universities you can make a competitive application to.

There are actually more medical schools that just require A-level Chemistry and a second science, than that require A-level Biology and a second science. It might be worth considering taking A-level Physics/Maths/Chemistry then, which will meet the requirements for many more medical schools, assuming there is no specific issue with taking chemistry.
