Does swapping courses and starting a new course as a Y1 student in September 2020 make me a failure? I’m currently a first year and seriously think I just simply made the wrong decision on my course

No.

If you are swapping courses because you feel you this is more suitable to future career, or you prefer the content then this would make perfect sense.

If you are swapping because you are academically struggling with the other course I would make an effort to understand where & why you are struggling and either take corrective action first OR ensure the same issue dont resurface on the new course.
