I found a poll here that was made about 10 years ago, and around 2/3 said blue at that point, however times change and I wondered what the response would be now considering a decade has passed since and I see far more other college students wearing black than blue.
Personally I still prefer blue (usually a mid-wash tone; I've bleached a couple of darker pairs to get them to this since stores are currently dominated by dark wash blue and black) because I find it less drab than black, and since I have broad/muscular legs I find that straight or bootcut jeans fit me far better than skinny jeans (my favourite pair are bootcut, despite it having gone out of fashion in the late 2000s). Most skinny jeans I wouldn't fit into at all, however I think they're thankfully on their way out.

Black. I can wear more with them. I have to wear all dark (or all black) clothing at work so it's just easier to have black jeans too. I own 2 pairs of blue jeans though, which only get worn if all my black pairs are in the wash. 1 that are so dark blue they might as well be black, and then a dark-but-not-as-dark-as-the-others pair.

Looking at the results at the moment, it appears as if the preference has flipped round since 2010 or so... Can anyone who posted here earlier say why they prefer black over blue, other than it being what's "in fashion" or "different to what their parents wore"?
I find that mid wash blue jeans go well with both black and white shirts, along with a wide range of light-mid colour shirts, whereas black jeans only go well with certain muted colours, and I find this colour scheme, which has pretty much dominated fashionable clothing for the past 5-6 years, to be drab looking, as I said earlier.

I like mid to light blue jeans, some ripped some not. I hate black on me I think it looks emo, so never owned any black.
