Is this bad? I earn £27k a year working in an IT Support position. Not sure what I can really do, I am looking into getting certification and fill in knowledge gaps to hopefully get ahead but still though £27k a year makes me feel poor. The issue is that despite needing to know 1000 different technologies this industry pays terrible, it seems like the only way to make money in IT is to go into programming. I saw a add today where they really wanted you to know a lot but when I looked at the pay I was horrified as it was £20,000??? May aswell go stack shelves or something, there are people working in warehouses earning more than that.

You can look to advancing into a Networking or Cyber Security role.
