Ever since about 2 years ago, ive had moderate anxiety which comes in at night mainly and doesnt allow me to sleep well. Ive tried everything to help it but nothing does.

I dont really speak to anyone aside from in college when im there but I just feel like the same thing happens every day. im in this viscious circle of worrying and boredom.

When I used to have loads of friends, I never used to worry, life was good. but now all I have to look forward to is coming home, drinking and playing video games.

I dont want this to be a self pity post as I dont want that I want advice on how to cope as im near breaking point with it.

There are two things you should do immediately to help yourself:
1) Make an appointment with your GP to speak about anxiety issues.
2) Self refer to a mental health service in your local area, or in your home town if you're living in dorms.
Do these first to get official, long standing support.
After this you should contact your Universities mental health team as they can give you professional help during this time, though understand there may be a waiting list.
Other than this there are things you can do to help yourself: meditation can help some forms of Anxiety with guided meditation courses being all over youtube. You can also try out some grounding techniques (5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can feel, 2 things you can smell/like the smell of, 1 good thing about yourself as an example) when you feel bad anxiety come on. Also if you're suffering from addiction please do your best to reach out, and phone 999 if you have caused any serious harm to yourself.
Please also call the suicide prevention hotline if you at any point feel like a danger to yourself.
I'm here if you want to send me a PM. I can't promise fast replies, but sometimes just knowing someone is there can help.

Hey I’m sorry that you’re feeling this way.
Try and do something that will break up your usual routine. This could be joining a new club or going for a jog/ cooking fav meal/ painting - anything that you enjoy or that you haven’t tried yet. This may help you engage and direct your focus into an activity rather than being consumed by your thoughts.

Socialising also helps! You could try and talking to your closest friends about your feelings or just hang with people you feel most comfortable with.

If you feel like you can’t cope by yourself, counselling or speaking to a GP can also help.

If you’re into it, then you can try meditation using the Headspace app. They have sections in the app specially designed to help with anxiety.

Hope this is helpful!
