Hi,
So I have 3 interviews for primary education coming up and i've become aware that I'll have to discuss a current issue within teaching.

I'm a music scholar at my current school meaning music plays a big part in my life so would I be able to talk about there being a lack of music in schools or schools cutting out music despite it being quite important to children and their learning? Or would I have to strictly stick to something in the news?

Narrowing of the curriculum and less time being spent on the arts is definitely a current issue- Ofsted's new "deep dive" style inspections seem to favour broad curricula (at least at secondary)- however some people feel that this approach is biased towards middle class schools where pupils don't need an intensive focus on their English and maths skills.

I think it's definitely something you could talk about, but make sure you are aware of the arguments on both sides!

Fine to talk about something you have some knowledge about. This is in the news anyway. https://www.classicfm.com/music-news...ing-for-music/
