Career after chemistry degree

I’m in my first year studying chemistry at the university of Warwick and was wondering what the career options are after this and starting salaries? I just started to worry about where this degree is going as I don’t know whether it’s useful for a good job or not.
Hi there,

Hoping I can offer some helpful information. There are a number of careers that are directly related to a chemistry degree such as:

-Academic researcher
-Analytical chemist
-Biotechnologist
-Chemical engineer

Some careers where a chemistry degree would be useful in would be:

-Civil service fast streamer
-Environmental consultant
-Higher education lecturer
-Management consultant

You can find out salary details and further information about these and other careers on a graduate website called Prospects:

You can also find out useful information about these and other related careers on our website job profiles:

Best of luck- Samrita.

Medical companies who design drugs such as GSK.
You are not just limited to being a chemist, but there are many jobs. Too many to list.
You could probably ask a careers advisor if your university has one, I know that some people go into NHS or chemical engineering.
