So why isn't he "Irish" then?
A Canadian with a British passport doesn't make him "British" if he never renounced his Canadian citizenship. It just makes him a Canadian with additional British citizenship.
Just because he holds multiple passports does not mean he suddenly isn’t British. If he is a British citizen, he’s British.

But wasnt for the first six years he was in the job.....?
The length of time you have had British citizenship doesn’t make you more or less British. It doesn’t matter if he’s been British for 2 years or 2 days, he’s still British.

Why is everyone obsessed with renouncing Mark Carney’s British citizenship? Firstly, he’s British. Secondly, genuinely who actually cares wheter or not the Governer of the BoE. is British? Xenophobic much

So he's no longer a Canadian. And was he ever Irish?

They aren't. We just take issue with your disingenuous claim that "he is British", in the context of the discussion.

Again, for the 10th time. Having british citizenship makes you british. Regardless of how many nationalities you hold. He’s British, Canadian and Irish.

So why didn't you say that in the first place, rather than just "he is British *smh*", which gives the impression that he is just British, not someone who was born and lived much of their life in Canada, who is still a Canadian citizen, only acquired British citizenship 2 years ago and was not British for most of their tenure as Governor.

Really not sure what point you are trying to make here, given that the post you were responding to was clearly referring to his position as Governor. Perhaps you didn't realise that he is actually a Canuk rather than a Brit? Nothing else really explains it. It's the *smh* comment that gave you away.

Remember, any European users of TSR, you have until 31 December 2020 to live and come over to apply for presettled status and then settled status after 5 years.

Lot of misconception that the drawbridge is up tomorrow lol

So Bojo is northern because he was in Sunderland today?
Most comedians are Scottish because they played at the fringe?

I am well aware that he is Canadian and you can have multiple nationalities and still be British. My point is you can’t say he’s not British if he clearly has British citizenship.

It is possible to have so many different nationalities. (Depending on whether the countries that you are a citzen of allows multiple citizenship and i'm pretty sure that UK does.)
