I'm worried I'll catch it and die. At uni, the people on my course are mostly Chinese except me and a few others so some must have gone to China recently and could have it.

Hi! I understand your worries.

Their are only two confirmed cases in the UK so far, both from the same family.

Furthermore, it's important to look past the media storm. The coronavirus is just another strain of flu. All those who've died have been elderly, a child or had previous immune system issues. If you're a regular healthy individual, it should just be a really bad flu.

It's two/three weeks into term now, depending on where you're at uni, so they've been back from China for longer than the incubation period. If they had it, they'd be displaying symptoms by now.

Besides, the people who have died from the virus are virtually all old/immunocompromised/have lung damage (e.g. from lifelong smoking). If none of those things apply to you, in the extremely unlikely event you caught it in the first place, you'd almost certainly survive.
