Hi, is anyone doing the British Biology Olympiad this year? I believe that it started today (31st Jan) , thought I would start up this chat to discuss how we think it all went and the best ways to revise for it.

I have it next Friday. Have you done the past papers online and looked at the syllabus for the Olympiad?

I have done the past paper and honestly, I didn’t do particularly well. I’m really worried and not too sure why I’ve been picked to do it.. I’m just going to give it my best shot. Since I’ve been overwhelmed with a lot of other school work I haven’t really had time to revise everything on the whole BBO syllabus so instead I’ve being going through my A Level textbook as that kind of doubles as mock revision (my mocks are soon). Good luck to you, hoping for the best!

Aww thanks you too!! I think looking at the whole A level syllabus is a good shout, but the Qs are designed to be hard. I don’t think the grade boundaries for any awards are very high usually. Check out this website for revision resources https://www.rsb.org.uk/get-involved/...vity-resources

I don’t, no, however they’ve never been particularly high. I heard last hear it was something like 65/90 for a gold?

I am also sitting BBO 2020. I have read Campbell Biology three times and used Biolympiads textbook outlines: https://biolympiads.com/textbook-outlines/. Also do all past papers! During my preparation, I also reviewed past papers of the Australian Biology olympiad and USABO.
