Thoughts on Durham appearing in clearing 2020?

Hello, so I’ve got all of offers back from universities and I’ve applied for a mix of higher/lower ranked ones. My predicted grades are AAB and I came to the conclusion this wouldn’t be high enough for universities like Durham so I decided not to apply. However, recently I’ve considered changing my course from English Literature to either English combined or pure Religious Studies and the grade requirements for Durham are AAB. Do any of you think Durham is likely to appear in clearing this year? I’d rather not go through using UCAS Extra incase I don’t get the required grades and since my GCSE grades are mostly fairly average (1 A, 9 B’s and 2 C’s) would I still even be considered? I’ve heard a few negative things about clearing at Durham and not hearing results back? Is this true and has anyone personally experienced entering through clearing? Also if anyone has any information on Religious Studies that would help a lot!

It is extremely unlikely that Durham will be in clearing.

Not sure about extra but English is one of their most competitive subjects so places would be limited if there are any available in extra. Your gcses probs wouldnt matter so much as you would already have your grades if applying via extra. RS is also competitive at Durham as it is a highly regarded department. I would ring each department and ask if it is worthwhile even considering extra for these subjects as they will know from previous years if there was availabilty.

I really hope Durham has courses in clearing on results day and wish you great luck.

They are currently open for all courses for international students but no courses for domestic students. This is unfair but is because of government intervention and caps to supposedly keep unis financially afloat. I find it annoying as there are people like me who want to go to uni and exceed the entry criteria but aren't being given the chance whilst they complain they can't get enough students due to COVID.
