This trainwreck of a thread is totally 'hilar'...

lol.com!!

Wow, that was obviously directed at me...

I love how everytime I say something bad about chavs, TSR gets all up in arms about it, but people can say whatever inverse snobbery they want, and that's okay. :sigh:
FinalFlash

What annoys me the most is that she goes on and on about us 'lower classes' using slang and how wrong it is but then goes on to say **** like that! I'd rather hear 'bruv' and 'brap' then 'hilar' and 'ridic'.
.Ali.
Lol I'm dyslexic, I have difficulty with spelling, sorry if that's offending you. I try to spell correctly but I find it hard. And wtf yes I can read. I find it ammusing how you're blatently some stupid peasant trying to start an online argument.

You can't read. I clearly stated that there are not chavs in the university but in the city. Either you're blind or you can't read.

Dyslexia is just an excuse for being stupid, unlucky.

Yes, I'm a stupid peasant. I'm at Cambridge, I'm not rich, but I'm by no means poor. Parents both work in respectable positions at Bristol university.

The fact that you use peasant as an insult just shows what sort of person you are.

I honestly don't have a problem with poor people lol. :s-smilie:

To be honest, I don't think many people would want to be around rough people (ie. chavs). You've obviously had some bad experiences which has led to your vehement dislike of them. You've just sort of connected chavs with poor people which has led to TSR attacking you for it.

I've done the whole private school thing and no one went around declaring war on chavs. People just seem a little ignorant sometimes of the problems these people face (including, I admit, occasionally me). There needs to be more understanding/communication between different groups of people to prevent this sort of stereotyping (on both sides). You seem a perfect example of that problem...

Lead Pipes A Fortune Made
As the title of the thread says really. Having spend my secondary school years in a not private but lets just say very 'middle class' school trying to be private (the whole flashing parents' cash, rah, 5 bedroom houses next to people on EMA type thing). At a more balanced sxith form college now, but considering which colleges to go for in my cambridge application just wondering which of the above colleges is most 'rah' or cliquey. (These are the ones that I liked sound of the most basically).
I know some people say it doesn't matter all that much, but i was really not happy at this previous school and definitely don't want to go somewhere with a similar atmosphere.
Any help, or other info on the 'feel' of these colleges would be much appreciated!
Thanks =)

It was directed at you because you go on and on about 'those dirty evil chavs with their slang omg can't you speak proper English??' and then you say stuff like hilar and ridic and fail.com... which sound really really stupid.

And I know you'll say BUT THEY ARE REAL WORDS... it's STILL slang and it STILL sounds stupid.

Oh right, I never saw that post, appologies. No it's not. Erm you can say what you like about me in regards to my opinions, but when you have a go at me for something I can't help, like dyslexia, that's crossing the line. I'm not stupid my any stretch of the imagination lol.

You're acting like one tbh.

And okay then.

Just deluded, ignorant, stuck up and spoilt. I'll settle for that.

Exactly! Lol yeah your top paragraph is right, they broke over £100 worth of my stuff because "you can afford more", and had a go at me for my accent which was really annoying.

Same, and tbh, we did have a joke about "chav war", but we never went out of our way to have a go at any chavs or anything.

Hmm I agree that there are wrongs on both sides. Mainy chavs though tbh, that's just my opinion though.

They're a lot better than 'oryt bruv' and the like. Yes, they're informal, but they're not completely made up or twisted words.
I love these debates. Perfect Sunday entertainment.

******* hell. I'm not going through this again.

You can't say you hate slang and advocate speaking RP and 'proper' English and then go and use slang yourself. God, you're such a hypocrite!

I haven't made fun of someone for having dyslexia or anything like that.

I do speak proper english, I occasionally say words like "---.com", or "hilar/ridic", that's about it. It's not anywhere near in the same league as chav language.

You're correct. Chavs have enough brain power to invent new words. You can only remember half of a word so use that instead.
