Hi!

I would also like some help! I am looking for a college quite near the arts centre that has a highish state sector intake, and is a friendly not to traditional place. I know about kings but was wondering if people could tell me more good and bad points of selwyn and fitzwilliam.

Thanks!

I'm thinking of applying to Downing or Queens' for Economics. Downing is where I'd love to apply, but I've heard it's a very competitive college. Is this true for Economics? :s

How were your UMS, because your grades look outstanding and the AEA especially singles you out as a very strong candidate. If you've got strong UMS and interview well I'd say you'd be in a very good position regardless of college. If you like Downing go for it. You can always check the Cam site for admissions numbers, but you've probably already done that.

Thanks, but my GCSEs were not so hot, so I'd rather be maximising my chances. Has anybody reading this got an offer from Downing, and if so, what were your grades? Also, I've heard Queens' accomodation is pretty grotty? Can anyone verify this?

My main concern really is the cost of accommodation and food, plus any support for international students.

Same for me. I'm between Corpus, Jesus, Clare and Sidney at the moment but any advice is great.

As far as I know it's no more so than Queens' - and to be honest, no matter what your GCSEs were, your A level and AEA grades mean you should probably just apply to the college you like the most.

Just out of interest guys, which colleges are most popular with vets and medics?

Gonville & Caius has a high medic intake. I think Girton takes quite a few vets, but I'm not 100% on that.

Haha, actually they are the reason I am running so late - I've had my personal statement etc. done for ageeees and I'm waiting on them to put my reference on! They don't actually know I'm applying to Cambridge, they "discouraged" it last year...so yeah :o:

Think I'm going with St John's, although Queens' is tempting

Ah, OK.

I personally think St John's is nicest. It's supposedly a bit posh though, but then that sort of comes with the territory anyway.

Which do you like the most? Say your college said right you're applying to John's, would you feel oh :s-smilie: , or would you feel yes that's right, good choice. Whatever you do decide please do it soon.

I'd be happy - I'm just worried about the "sporty" aspect, because I'm not at all! I like the idea that it's ensuite, quite large etc. Whereas I disliked Queens' lack of ensuites, but like the fact it apparently has good ents and is on the river...so either really. Oh and Queens' give you an essay/prep study etc. at interview, whereas John's may...argh. Whichever I stand the most chance in, but I guess there is little in that.

Remember that Queens' may have good ents but that St' John's has one of the best may balls in Cambridge
But John's has really crap rooms for second years.

From what you've said, unless you're desperate to do the essay/prep, it looks like John's may be better, it's on the river (as you probably know) and it has got a good rep for ents aswell. John's seems to have had less applicants per place over the past 4 years for law if that's a deciding factor. Go with wherever feels write, that's what I did at least (against the advice of others:rolleyes: ) good luck.
