Could somebody give me some info on the self catering facilities of the Cambridge college. Which colleges (if any) have ovens in the kitchens? This is actually going to be one of my deciding factors lol so would really appreciate some info on this!

I'm an international Medicine applicant. Are there any reasons why I shouldn't apply to Sidney?

Further to around's point, it also rhymes with Sydney, which is in Australia, a very long way away from Cambridge.
Im applying for economics and have got my choices down to Trinity, Jesus, and Downing. Could somebody give me some advice on which to chose?
I dont have amazing GCSE grades and im unsure if any of these are particulary strict on that?
My other requirements are a big place place which is lively and not too formal and strict with lots of rules. I also like to cook and so good cooking facilities would be nice.
Cannot chose between Kings and Jesus. Can some students from these colleges let me know the pros and cons of each. Im doing Law btw.

Ditto-ish. Stuck between Jesus and Emma... the only REAL difference is that Emma asks for essays for Philosophy whereas Jesus doesn't. (I would like to submit essays...) But... I think that I prefer Jesus! yikes.

Then just go for the one you prefer. The essays aren't that important to the admissions process. I sent in a German essay that was literally riddled with mistakes (many of them silly and careless) and I got in anyway.
by doing an open application do you have more chances?Or is it the same?
I am considering of doing an open application but i dont want to be placed to a single sex college or a religous one.
which college do you think is better for engineering?
I am thinking about trinity but i am not sure.I couldnt find much information or photos in the colleges websites.
Are there any cambridge students here?At which college are you?How is it there?
Which college combines that? Also which are the religious and single sex colleges?

Thank you in advance.

John's?
A reputation for sports almost goes without saying, rooms are pretty big and nice with a kitchen between 4 rooms. All colleges have great people

The women's only colleges are Newnham, Lucy Cavendish and Murray Edwards (formerly known as New Hall). Clare Hall and Darwin only admit graduates.

As for religion, I don't really know. I don't think that any have a reputation for being really religious, but I'm not sure. There certainly aren't any "Christian-only" colleges or anything like that.

Most colleges will have sports teams for all different levels - you can play as much or as little as you want. I'm not sure about the specifics of Trinity, to be honest. Neither am I sure about the kitchens. I would imagine that all colleges have some kitchen facilities but their quality and the number of students per kitchen may vary. The best thing to do is to roll up at an open day (or even just roll up some day, most porters will let you in if you say that you're a prospective applicant) and ask some students who are there.
Hi, I'm in the process of choosing my college, and was just wondering what college was most sociable in terms of student life etc.

Any help would be great, thanks.
No such thing!

Depends what you're after. Some colleges are particularly known for having good bars, good (well-attended) formals, or are big in the college ents scene. Some are slightly more insular meaning you might see pretty much the same crowd in the bar all the time, others have lots of random visitors from other colleges who come and enjoy the bar. Sometimes people go out to bars in town with friends, often friends from other colleges. In short it depends more on the kind of people you socialise with than the college itself!

Oh right, thanks!
i'm stuck between Magdalene and Robinson for Economics,
I've heard Robinson only just started the course and Magdalene are a better college,
I ideally want good accommodation and good facilities, if that helps...

Hello everyone,
I know this is quit late, as applications need to be in soon, so I urgently need advise on which college to apply to.
I want to do Linguistics and I'm considering
- Christ's College
- King's College
- Queens' College
- Gonville & Caius College
- Corpus Christi College
- Pembroke College
- St Catharine's College
- St John's College

Please, can you tell me something about those colleges, advise me one (which is "specially 'good' for linguistics"... should be rather "cheap" too...) or anything?

Thank you so much!!

It really doesn't matter, they are all rather good. There is no one that is really 'better' than another, other than the fact that you should apply to one which has a college specific Director of Studies. Have a look at all of the college's DoS' and see if whether their area really takes your fancy.

But in the end it really doesn't make much difference
which college has the best accommodation?(clean rooms and kitchens, ensuite rooms, good sports facilitites?)
Do all colleges have ensuite rooms?

Waiting for your responses.
