I am slightly in the habit of getting all you TSRians to do my research for me, so I was just wondering if you could help me pick a shortlist of colleges...
I'm looking for:

Old Architecture
Near the centre
Ideally near the river
slightly off the beaten track
Mixed
near languages

Thanks!

You want off the beaten track, in the centre by the river!? I don't think those go together. By the river you have Queens, Kings, Clare, Trinity, Johns, Magdelene. All of those have old architecture, none are off the beaten track. None of the colleges in the very centre of town are far from the river though.

There are no all male colleges, so mixed isn't a problem. (I assume your profile icon is your actual sex).

trinity hall is actually the best suited, and the one you didn't mention.

Which Cambridge college has the most lively social scene (lots of ents, nights out etc)?

Trinity Hall, Clare, Queens

Probably in that order

There's already a thread discussing this which was started yesterday! Which, it appears, has been merged into the big "which college" thread, causing another person to post yet another thread on the same topic...

You're going to have major difficulty getting a good response as everyone will just say their own college. Certain colleges have a reputation for good bars, ents etc but these are often attended by people from other colleges. But if you're a fresher it's easy to have a good social life at any of them and after that it depends who you're friends with more than anything.

Churchill not only has sports fields on site but also has (the only?) free boat club.

And there are ducks.

In that case which colleges have a reputation for good bars, ents etc?
Have a look through this thread.

Be aware this thread will probably get merged into there soon!

I meant not overtly touristy, and either central or river-y

I want to apply for linguistics at one of those colleges but I just can't make a decision. I know, many people say "It doesn't really matter" but still, I have to choose one.

It would be really nice and helpful if you could list any pros and cons below; e.g. price, accommodation, facilities, application procedure (I'd prefer just to have 1 interview coz I'm living further away...),... etc etc... whatever really!

Thanks a lot
Ummm... King's is always overrun by tourists (unless you like that sort of thing) and is usually oversubscribed (more than the others)
St John's has some of the most expensive accomodation prices (according to the alternative prospectus)
I would go for Christ's, personally (it was one of my favourites before I settled on St Catharine's)
King's - Christ's is a bit small for my liking and St John's is victim of a lot of verbal abuse by other colleges.

What do you mean with that?

Songs such as "I'd rather be at Oxford than St. John's".

I've managed to narrow my choices down to 2 and was hoping someone could give me a hand getting it down to the final one! I'm either applying to Sidney Sussex or Trinity Hall.
I'm applying to do Law and basically was just wondering what the general pros and cons of each are? Cheers
Im trying to choose the right college and havent got much time i wont be able to visit any, please suggets the one that might suit me best.
here are some things i would like
-frielndly and social place
-nice acom, prefer to be in college, like modern stuff
-entertainment other than nughtclubs, maybe live music
-im studying computer science so it mite be good to be near but looking at posts on here it dosnt matter too much if its far.
-cinema would be good
-not too sporty but have stuff like squash courts just not a sport centred community.

so far ive been thinking about churchill cos its modern, has lots, near to CS, but ppl say its really ugly and no entertainment???
