and what are you/studying towards now?

Just curious as to whether anyone stuck to their childhood ambitions.

I used to want to be a storm chaser, now I'm studying to become a solicitor.

Now I'm a maths teacher/tutor and software developer.

To be fair, if that were such a job title, it'd be a pretty awesome one

Barrister (...probably took this from my aunt)
Medical Doctor/Pathologist

Career-wise I never was that creative... or creative in any other sense
---

Now I am on track for neither, I am a CS undergrad. Guess I could do the GDL :dontknow:

Farmer.

I did a BTEC in Agriculture realised it was way too hard to get into without a farm and started a degree in Rural Property Management. Then I dropped out of that to become a commercial property manager for a few years, then residential property manager. Now I'm a Primary Care Data Analyst.

I still help out on my friend's farm.

Games developer, then journalist, then generally something in software development.

However now doing a maths degree with no intention of going into any of those.

I wanted to be a vet. Realised last year that this was a 5-6 year uni course and typically required work experience. I changed my mind and am now looking to do Biology instead.

i wanted to be an artist & life in a castle, which my brother (who wanted to be a builder) would built for me, & then i’d paint it pink.

although, i realised in year 5 how much i detested art, so i guess it wasn’t the right path for me 🥺

now, i’d like to be a teacher, but who knows whether that’ll happen or not 🤷🏻*♀️

When I was five, I wanted to be an architect so I could build my parents a house. Then an artist, then an author, then a biologist, then a programmer

Now I have an unconditional offer for Chemistry in October, with a view to either going into academic research or becoming a teacher. I’ve liked a lot of things, but I’ve never loved something as much as I love Chemistry now

Aw, no shame though!
I couldn't imagine being an ATC, aviation fascinates me but the job itself sounds exhausting. :emo:

Still a really interesting job you have now, though! My friend is also a software dev and I didn't realise all of the interesting things you could do with code. He's always making these odd coded machines, I love seeing what they can do.

Pirate, and given the state of the world I think young me was right to want to abandon society and sail the seas stealing ****.

Then, for an actual career the earliest was journalist, and instead I'm an analytical chemist.

I can relate! Creativity isn't my forte either, I'm more of a thinker.

What made you want to get into computer science?
It was something I was considering opting for too, but I decided I was probably better suited for law.

I guess I picked the degree because of how versatile it is :dontknow:, and I liked the idea of learning the hard CS theory.

Finding out that I didn't have to do the LLB in order to get into the law was another factor, so I thought let's do a different degree and see where it takes me after
