Would you consider becoming engaged or getting married while still in University? Three of my flatmates have become engaged in the past month. Their boyfriends back in the U.S. must really miss them!

Engaged possibly (if he ever hurries up with asking) but not married. I want to wait until i finish uni so we can celebrate properly with people with love around us. 6 yrs isn't that long to wait  .

LOADS of people in my year have become engaged while we've been at uni. I only know of about 3-4 who've actually got married. Of course, a few (the mature students) were married before we started.

I can't imagine being married as a student, but one of the girls who has got married is a friend of mine and it seems to be working out really well, they seem very happy.

hmm, i don't think that getting married when you're at uni is the best idea, really because most of us are so young! If you're met them at uni you'll have known them what, about 2/3 year typically! Thats insane!!!

If you're not with someone who's at uni it could just cause added strain.

I think I would consider getting married at uni but only in my 4th or 5th year and only if it is with my current bf because we will have been together for over 5 years and I think that is long enough to get married.

I agree. The end of senior year would be ok. Actually one of my roommates has been with her boyfriend for about 5 years now too, and I was really getting tired of her crying and whining all the time "When are we going to get married!?" I couldn't believe she was thinking about that at this juncture in her college career, but apparently long relationships do that to people  . The old bags!

my brother proposed after 18 months, they got married 18 months later and have now been married for 18 months. he was 25 and she was 28 when he proposed - admittedly neither of them were in uni but he knew from day one she was the one for him, and it felt right for both of them.

you're too old to have children in late twenties? hardly!

i'd definitely get engaged whilst at uni (if the guy was right of course...not just for the hell of it!) but i'd wait until i had a job and a bit of money to spend on the wedding to actually get married.

as far as i'm concerned, once you're engaged you start planning the wedding

I'd love to get engaged and even married while at university. I don't see the real need in putting time restrictions on relationships before marriage e.g. don't get married until you've been together x years / lived together y years. If it feels right for both of you then why not? I guess I'm just a romantic and I want to get married young and be together forever.
