Labour chair is a mostly internal role so most of what he does in that role is unlikely to be visible to the rest of us.
I'm glad you agree?

Yeah, from a collaboration point of view BosslyGaming has been about as active as I'd expect a Labour chair and a Foreign Secretary to be.

I thought George Orwell was responsible for Wigan’s notoriety. The A level English syllabus must have changed then.

I would welcome a change of mind by the Speaker so this can go to a vote.

I am not advocating that the City of Brighton and Hove change its name to any of its notable citizens. Or Barnet to Maudling after the former notorious MP.
Orwell was from Wigan. TIL. It is not uncommon for cities and towns to be named after people.

i submit that this motion doesn't go far enough. let's rename the entire north plus anywhere that could reasonably be defined as a town 'nandy land' and give it its own legislature, controlled by an AI developed to synthesise lisa nandy's thoughts and actions

Well, a joke response to a joke motion is entirely appropriate don't you think?

One assumes that quirky issued a joke response to a joke response to a joke motion.

I'm entirely serious about renaming Wigan. There are over 20 towns named after people in the UK.

While my response was light hearted as I originally said I did not intent this to be a joke motion.

But it is though isn't it. You surely didn't expect Andrew to allow this motion into division, it would set an awful precedent.

It has already set a precedent. Parliamentary sovereignty has been quashed by an unelected speaker who has decided towns can not be named after people. He might as well introduce a bill that renames all towns named after people to be renamed and then pass it without democracy. Democracy is dead friends. We now live under tyranny. Is this the future we want for our children and our tubby cats?

Unelected? Andrew has been elected, and comfortably gone through 2 Votes of Confidence.

And yes, this future seems better than one where any item gets into division and effectively rigs voting reviews, and just in general wastes the time of whips. As a whip myself, do you really think I can be arsed whipping a 1.5 line motion consisting of nothing of importance?

As a former whip, I empathize. This could probably be a free vote however. I thought the Tories were active according to Connor27

It being a free vote is completely not the point, as whip I would still have to remind people vote (possibly multiple times) on absurd items like this. It's just a colossal waste of time, and is why joke items aren't sent to division anymore. I do suspect you plan on using this as grounds for a VoNC in the future, since you're not exactly part of the Andrew97 Fan Club.
