How to get rid of homesickness while you are in university?
It’s a tough one, for sure. The most effective method of dealing with homesickness is making friends in your uni and socialising often do that you don’t feel isolated.

Try immersing yourself into uni life fully. Join a society or two, surround yourself with people you find interesting. If you can do that, you’ll probably feel more at home at uni. Basically try to distract yourself from your homesickness... find a new hobby to try, explore your new town, get involved in social events.

Hey!

It's completely normal to feel homesick, a lot of people will be in the exact same boat so I'd definitely recommend joining a club or society! You can meet people who are also feeling the same way and who share similar interests to you, it can be a great distraction.

Could you take up a new hobby to help take your mind off feeling homesick? Maybe start a blog, find a new tv show, read a book, start baking, going for long walks, maybe even start some uni work early to get it out of the way and give you something to do to distract you? I have a blog post that you might find helpful, Biomedical Engineering student Fatima shares how she arranged an international dinner party to overcome feeling homesick.

Are there any events or activities going on at your university that you can immerse yourself into? I think you'll soon settle in and those feelings will decrease over time

Good luck with everything!

Becky
