English Lit A-Level NEA - Literary Value and the Canon

So, for my NEA I wish to analyse my text through the idea of literary value and the canon, however, I'm slightly confused when it comes to what the title of my essay should be and what to actually include/needs to be discussed. It's meant to be an argumentative essay (should I argue why my chosen text should be included in the canon?) Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, did you end up doing this? I have the same question!

Hi GB13430.
I think your current line of thinking is an interesting one. It is, perhaps, very generic at the moment, so it will be difficult to come up with a focused title to work to.
Do you have a particular text (or texts) you would like to dig deeper into? If you do, that will provide you with a stronger sense of what you want to be writing about, because you'll have ideas as to what it is about the text(s) that draws you as a reader. There might be themes which you find interesting, themes you consider to be important enough to warrant the text's inclusion in what some critics regard as the 'canon' (although this is arguably a subjective label). Maybe you find the form/structure to be unconventional and/or challenging, meaning the text represents something new and progressive?
So, if you tell me what texts you're considering, maybe we can establish a focus for your NEA?
What do you think?
