Our teacher says that we should learn the symptoms for each specific disease we have in the spec, for example Black Sigatoka. This also appears in practice questions, from PMT for example.

Whereas on the spec it says: ‘no details of the symptoms of specific diseases is required’

i asked the same question to my teacher a while back and she said you should know the symptoms because it can help you to link it to the effects of the disease. for example with TMV- the symptoms are yellow leaves with a mosaic pattern. this can help you think of how this will affect the plant (yellow patches=no chlorophyll=no photosynthesis occurring in that patch) so although it isn’t required, if you know the symptoms it can help you to learn the effects also they’re quite often in suggest questions so maybe useful to learn a few for that reason!
