Counselling during intermission?

Do you know if it's possible to get counselling at uni during intermission? It would seem like a logical time to have it for a lot of people but I suppose they could argue that you're not paying fees during intermission so they can't provide any services. On the flip side, I haven't had it before when I could have done.

I don't think it's possible. You're better off going to your GP.

Yes, I had counselling at university whilst I was still a student there in my second year. I had 16 sessions rather than the usual 6. After that I started specialist trauma therapy under the care of a specialist trauma mental health team.

Ah I hope everything is going well for you now. Did the counselling help? And how do you know it's not allowed during intermission?

The counselling was more to help support me whilst we waited for more specialist intervention, and whilst she tried her best she, in her own words, couldn't help me. Counselling is not for people who have more severe issues so yeah.

I don't know that it's not possible. I said I don't think it's possible as you're technically not enrolled as a student. Every university does it differently though. I'd encourage you to seek information about this and also think about what your issues actually are because if they're beyond the usual issues that university counsellors see (e.g. homesickness, deadline stress, etc.) then they may not be the best people to see.
