I recently went to the doctors and had a blood test faeces test and ultrasound. The first two tests I rung up later on and got the all clear from the receptionist. But for the ultrasound the receptionist wouldn’t give me the results she said a doctor would call me to ‘discuss further’ I’m really worried as they are testing for something serious and all my symptoms match. Surely if it was clear the receptionist would have just told me. The fa t that a doctor is is worrying anyone experienced anything like this. Thanks

Wouldn't worry too much just yet. If it was an emergency they would have told you to go to A&E.

It might be normal though, and the doctor might just want to speak to you about doing other tests or ways of managing my symptoms. When I had an abnormal ultrasound, I got a phone call the day after my scan asking me to come in - so the fact that your doctor hasn't called you straight away is a reassuring sign.

Try not to worry. If this thing did show up then you'll be able to start working on it so that's a good thing.
And there's still a chance it's not that. They might want to talk to you because it was inconclusive and they'll need to do more tests, there might be something different that showed up etc.

Do you know about when the doctor will be calling? Do you have something you can do until then to keep your mind off it?

I've been squeezed in at the end of the day before to discuss the results of a test with a specialist. Needless to say I was pooping my pants quite a bit. The test had come up with something unexpected and it was a little bit of an emotional moment, but wasn't really all that big of a deal and I'm totally fine now. So often with thigns like this the worst part is all the not knowing and worrying and waiting.

You're in good hands whatever comes up. Nothing you can do about it right now though so just try to keep it off your mind and chill out.
