Science Po/LSE Dual Degree in International Affairs 2020 Application

Hello everyone,

I couldn't any other threads on this topic so I just decided to post one myself. Feel free to let me know if anyone else has done a post on this before.

I've applied to LSE and Science Po, and I've also applied to the Science Po-LSE Dual Degree in International Affairs. I submitted my application for the dual degree program back in mid-November.

Since then, I've gotten an offer at LSE (International Relations), but my Science Po application (International Security) was rejected. At this time, I'm still waiting for a response to the dual degree program (which is apparently due in early March).

Has anyone else applied to the dual degree program? Have you received a response yet?

My biggest concern is that since I wasn't able to get into the Science Po program, my chances of getting into the dual degree program are low.

Hi, amallick!

I also have applied to the dual degree program and also haven't heard anything from them yet. I think you are right and the decisions should be out in early March( if we are to trust someone from another thread who asked the admission committee), so let's keep our fingers crossed. I am going nuts with all the wait!

I have been accepted to Sciences Po for MA in International Economic Policy but I am not sure whether being accepted to their separate programs gives you an advantage or not. My advice to you is to not stress too much over the rejection from Sciences Po and just wait for the decision to be announced. It could be possible that your motivational letter for the double degree program is more persuasive so I would not agonize over this too much!

I have a question, though, whether you know how long we will have to accept/reject the offers once they are out?

Congratulations on your acceptance momu67!

I appreciate your encouragement and I do hope you're right about the motivational letter. After all, I did write close to 50 drafts of it.

On your question, I really don't have any idea as to how long we have until we can respond to our offers.

Hi amallick, I’m exactly in the same situation as you. I've applied to LSE and Science Po separately, as well as to the Science Po-LSE Dual Degree in International Affairs. I got accepted for the International Relations MS at LSE, but my Science Po application for the International Security MA was rejected. I guess we will just have to wait a few more weeks!

Hello I applied for the same dual master but with the IPE course at LSE. I am still waiting for a response, I sent my application on December 30th and got my admissibility email on the 10th of February. I also applied to LSE and I am also still waiting for that. I am a Politics and International Studies student at warwick, what about you?

Guys! Congratulations to everyone accepted! I have applied for Two dual-degree programmes at LSE-PKU MSc in International Affairs and Sciences-Po-PKU International Relations with International Security at Sciences Po. I got accepted by both and was tending to choose the Sciences Po-PKU programme. Now, some friends of mine urged me to pick LSE because of it’s outstanding reputation. Do you have an opinion on that? How would you choose? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Lowe 93 and congrats for getting in! I would personally go with the LSE-PKU program because of its reputation, but I've heard that the Science Po program is also quite good too. May I ask why you were leaning towards the PKU-Science Po program?

Hi amallick, thanks for your answer.

I was leaning towards the Science Po programme since it offers a clear specialisation, in my case in the area of international security. Such a specialisation would clearly shape my profile into one direction which I deem important because in my opinion my profile is too general. Furthermore, because of the opportunity to enhance my French. I’m from Switzerland and business proficiency in French at the Federal Administration is required and highly regarded.

Do you think the difference in reputation is that big?

Have you been admitted to LSE? If yes, to which programme?

In that case I think Science Po would be best for you. One of the reasons I applied to Science Po is because I wanted to improve my French to improve my French so I could enter the Canadian foreign service. The specialisation is a plus and is probably going to be more beneficial for you than what LSE offers.

The difference in reputation isn't that big, and Science Po will look great on your resume. Science Po isn't very well known in Canada, but LSE is.

I will be enrolling in MSC in International Relations program at LSE.
