Is it possible for someone to have depression without family history? Watch

Clinical depression is one of the most highly inheritable diseases in the world. 9 times out of 10, it’s caused by genetics (hereditary). If somebody has no family history of clinical depression, there chances of getting it are like the chances of getting struck by lightning, I’m assuming.

Yes. I have depression but non of my family members have it. Think about it, it could be due to the social and environmental factors than just genes.

I think absolutely everyone in the world is capable of being depressed given the right circumstances. I’m very sceptical of linking genetics and mental health because it is far from an exact science and they seem to make it up a lot of the time.
