Orthodontic therapy 2020

It’s so hard now days to find a practice that will actually train a nurse to become a ortho therapist. Just wondering if anyone knows abit more about the specific requirements needed in your practice so for example amount of patients you’d need to have access to weekly.
Basically I’ve called all the university’s and emailed but heard nothing back, but I’ve been offered an opportunity to work in a general practice to train as an orthodontic therapist as they do some orthodontic treatment only on a private basis.
Would I be employed as a trainee orthodontic therapist, the trainer is a specialist orthodontist but the practice is mainly general so I’m worried they wouldn’t accept this.

But like I said I’m not sure as I would still have some exposure to orthodontics just no way near as much as being in a fully orthodontic practice.
I need to make my decision soon and as I haven’t heard anything back from the university I was hoping someone online might have been in this situation before or know someone that has studied orthodontic therapy in a general dental practice.
