I am struggling in finding work experience as a civil engineer. I have contacted all local firms and programmes, and i didn't get one! How important is work experience, can i get into the top universities without it?

Universities don’t expect relevant work experience for subjects like engineering. Getting involved in a group project and taking an interest in the industry is far more important.
